Collaboration on Screen-printed Pineapple/Cotton fiber Scarves handmade in Bangladesh

My longtime friend, the Olympia, Washington-based artist and musician, Arrington Dedionyso, approached me about translating his art into fashion items, and we wanted to make it as sustainable as we could. Our first product is this screenprinted scarf, sourced from the expert on Bangladesh textiles and handicraft, Mr. Shahid Shamim, who also runs Ajiyer which is an excellent ecotourism business (he has tours focused exclusively on textiles and surface design among other things). We are currently producing these in limited amounts and numerous colors, and also offer them on Pineapple fiber/silk blend scarves as well, which are similar but slightly translucent. Very warm for winter and very durable against heavy use – I really love mine and wear it all the time. More products are in the works but it is a slow process as I don’t feel safe enough to be in Dhaka much these days.

Anyway, Arrington’s daughter shot these great pics with her best friend. Photo Credit: Lucinda Roanoke; Model= Leena Joshi
